Answers
- Are the children I see featured on your website and Facebook page available for adoption?
-
Most of the children who receive services through our programs will have adoption files completed. As we do not play an active role in the adoption process, we do not always know when a child's file will become available for adoption. If there is a child in one of our programs you like to learn more about, we can let you know if we have any information on that child's adoption status. However, as we rely solely on word-of-mouth, we may not always have up to date information. Also, please keep in mind that it is very difficult for agencies to seek out a specific child for a specific family. The CCCWA does not allow families to pre-identify a child they would like to adopt before that child is made available to agencies.
- My family is interested in pursuing an adoption from China. Where do we start?
-
Your first step would be to find an agency to help you facilitate the adoption. Be sure to interview multiple agencies and ask a lot of questions! Most agencies will have a list of reference families available for you to contact to interview about their experiences with the agency. You will also want to continue your research of special needs. Search for resources in your community and speak with medical professionals to determine what needs your family has the resources to care for. Starting this process early will help you be more prepared throughout the adoption process.
- My family was referred a child who is in one of your programs. Can we get additional/updated information on them?
-
Current regulations do not allow us to provide additional and/or updated information on any child to any family or agency. Families must request this information through their agency and the CCCWA. Regular updates on children are only provided to our sponsors. If you have adopted a child who participated in a LWB program, we have additional information we can provide to you. Please visit our website to Request Child Information.
